Who really has veterans' support?

Last night I felt uneasy about McCain's late attempt to paint himself as the champion of veterans' rights. There's no denying that his work after Vietnam is commendable and notable. My problem is with the "What have you done for veterans lately?" question. Today we have a whole new generation of veterans. We're getting new ones every day, and they have very serious needs. I was puzzled by McCain's failure to support the recent GI bill, and so I wondered after his claim of having veterans' support last night -- what do the veterans' groups say?

Well, ridiculously late last night I stumbled onto an interview that went a long way to answering my question beyond Joe Biden's statements after the debate. The first 1:40 of this is skippable, but the rest of it really resonated with me.
